Are you preparing your kids to be productive, caring, responsible adults when they become ready to leave the nest? Of course we all want that, but what are you doing right now to help make that happen? You do realize you have to start instilling those skills and values from the time they can talk and walk. However, if you didn’t start then, it is never too late to begin, but the sooner in life you do start, the easier for you it will be to send them out in the world and feel proud and confident that you have given them a good start to be on their own. Just one way we started was that we have shown all of our children (ages 10-24) how to start and run their own businesses at about the age of 8. I feel very confident that they will know how to conduct themselves in the real financial world. My children who are still at home, at the ages of 10,12 & 14, all make their own money, and the three older who are 19, 22 & 24 are all ahead of the game in the financial world, while still in college. So far it has worked for all of them, even the two that are very shy. What are some of the things you have done to prepare your kids to be on their own in a tough financial world?
